New review on Trip Advisor

For many of us who travel to the Amazon, it is a bucket list item, and you want to get as much out of the experience as you can. I can guarantee that Gil Serique will make sure that happens for you. It can even start before you leave home. Gil is available (by e-mail) to answer questions, arrange to customize your experience if you like (we were a large group of cruisers stopping for a day), and even put contingency plans in place if need be (a must for us cruisers!). He and his team are an enthusiastic bunch and will keep you informed and entertained the whole time you are with them. Their English is superb, and they go out of their way to bring the Amazon to life for you, answering any and all questions that you care to throw at them, and showing you as much as they can in the time you have to spend with them. Being local, they know the area like the back of their hand. Their rates are reasonable and they simply knock themselves out to please you. They ensure all who travel with them are kept safe and go out of their way to help anyone with special needs (e.g. difficulty walking). I cannot say enough good things about Gil and hope you get to meet him on your travels through the Amazon. You won't be disappointed. Brenda and Dan

New Review on Trip Advisor

“Amazon River Cruise and Walk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW
We did a half day group tour off of our cruise ship with Gil for a short distance out of Santarem. There are two things that you should know. First, though we did not visit an unspoiled national park area (you need to go a much longer distance for that), Gil nevertheless did a great job exposing us to native flora and fauna, as well explaining the sociopolitical ups and downs of local Amazon society. Second, Gil is tremendously entertaining. He goes a mile a minute with his thoughts, and you may have some trouble following his weaving of threads, but I guarantee that you will learn more in an hour with him than you would in a day with somebody else. Gil's depth of knowledge is bottomless, and his good nature relentless. Get him to tell you about the travails of his family attempting to adjust to the region's new economic reality - fascinating and sad. If you are in the Santarem locale, Gil is your man!

Aida Private tour 18. February 2013

SPECIAL PRIVATE TOUR AIDA 18. February 2013

The group of maxim 15 people will be pick up by a a/c van at the port. We drive along the city coast to get to our boat docked at Richard Hennington pier in Down town. That gives participants to take a glimpse of Santarem. We then head to the meeting of the waters and Maica river mouth for Pink Dolphin watching.

Maica river area is one of the most scenicplaces in the Amazon and it is also nice site for birdwatching. As the water is low, we drop off the boat for a small hike. Fishing can as well be done. There will be fish tidbits, nuts, fresh fruit and bottled drinks being served during the tour.

After enjoying Maica river and its abundant wildlife we shall visit the village of Alter do chao, chosen by The Guardian as one of the most beautiful places in Brazil. Here we can swim in the warm water of the Tapajos river or just relax enjoying beers, caipirinhas or fresh fruits.

Alter do chao
drive south from the port to KM67(40 mn) where we will visit my grand-parents former place, currently The Tapajos National Forest. Here we also visit a tower built by Nasa, so you have the privilege to see the various levels of rainforest. We hike for 1h30m in rainforest.  After we eat or maybe before we hike back to the van (with a/c) to drive by Belterra, the second city founded by Henry Ford in the Amazon. From here we drive to Alter do chao one of the best beaches according to The Guardian, here we have a few drinks in my place(located in the best place in the village) we then drive back to the port.

We can always visit the market but in Dec. the water will be too low so we can not see the dolphins, I would just skip it then. We still can drive through the city if time allows; The time is perfect actually!!
The cost includes bottled drinks, cashew nuts, brazil nuts, fresh fruit, fish tid bits and crackers. The price is U$120 per person, max ten people.
