New Review on TA

“Gile Serique Day Tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 days ago NEW
We were staying on board the Marco Polo and booked Gil to be our guide for the day whilst in Santarem. What a fab day we had! Gil is friendly, enthusiastic, very knowledgeable and great fun to spend the day with. We were given a lovely pocket handbook (written by Gil) and we managed to tick off as seen nearly all the animals in that book. There were 8 of us which was just nice but we believe he never takes more than 10-12 on a trip. Plenty of room to move around the boat as you wish.

We had lunch on the boat: freshly prepared pineapple which was so sweet, fresh roasted peanuts (delicious) and fried Pirarucu with chips. This was all washed down with beers and then Caiprinhas... Heaven! You need to pick at the food as there's just so much to watch out for and you don't want to miss a thing!!! Hang on to the Caiprinha or one of your mates might pick it up as theirs!!!

We were in awe of all the wildlife we saw and the quietness and solitude of it all.... especially after the number of people on excursions organised by the ship! Gil is full of history and tales, all injected with humour, and we had a truly wonderful time with him.

We finished up by going to the Meeting of the Waters which we had seen at Manaus and it was just great to witness this spectacle again.

Gil has continued to help us once back home with identifying animals and plants in photos! A great guy to spend a day with and we'd love to come back and take up one of the longer trips that he does. Thanks, Gil x
